Can Apricot Seeds Fight Cancer?

Have you heard that apricot seeds help fight cancer? I have no idea about this. To read a medical report is just too strenuous for my eyes. If you need more information about this, try this link: Cancer Tutor. One thing for sure, apricot seeds contain Vitamin B17 (Laetrile).

There are many success stories from people using just laetrile or apricot seeds. You can check out this site: Anti Cancer Info

I have also found in my readings that apricot seeds do contain cyanide which actually could be poisonous if taken in big quantities.

I bought a half kilo of apricot seeds last week and make a point to chew 3 seeds a day as a prevention against cancer. Yucky taste!!! My oh my, what bitter taste you have, apricot seeds.

I found other benefits of apricot seeds (copied from http://greatstuff.hubpages.com/hub/Health-Benefits-of-Apricot-and-Apricot-Seed).

  • It is claimed that vitamin B17 helps in the prevention of cancer. Apricot seed has the highest percentage of B17 in any fruits and consuming this seed will help prevent cancer.
  • Vitamin B17, and hence apricot seed, also helps to lower high blood pressure.
  • Helps to reduce pain associated with arthritis.
  • Helps to maintain the general health and well-being. Hence, it will strengthen the ability to resist infections like colds and flu.
Well, if you want good health, forget about the taste. Perhaps you should try it with a piece of chocolate to get rid of that taste.

Peace!

Samsung Tab 2 7.0 vs Blackberry Torch 9860

Yeah, right, my best buddy, BB 9860 crashed for the 3rd time... (sulking). First, it was early Dec 2011. I had 2 wait for 2 months before Celcom finally decided to replace it with a new phone. Got my phone in Feb 2012, and it (the new phone) crashed again. Hang and could not be turn on. I was told it was a software issue. But it took Celcom only less than 12 hours to get it repaired. Last week, another crash. I googled and learnt the trick to reboot it myself, nahhhh....I was unfortunate. Took it back to Celcom (lucky me, the warranty ends December this year) and Celcom promises at least 1 month till I get my Torch back.

I felt so "lonely" without a smartphone that I decided to get something today. Dragged Zul and Anga to Skudai Parade, and got my hands on a Tab 2. Well, I was undecided about whether to pick Note 2 or Tab 2. But I rest on Tab 2. Why?

All covered in white.....

Of course Note 2 has the advantage with multitasking & writing 'notes', but I blog quite often. I find Note 2 a little too small for updating my blog and googling. How to use the Tab as a phone? Oklah, I opt to the use of the loudspeaker. Besides, when I used Torch 9860, I always speak via the loudspeaker.

What will happen to my beautiful Torch? See la. I might sell it on Mudah. Or perhaps pass it over to Zul or Anga......Today, I'm going to be busy downloading stuffs into my Tab 2 from the Aps Store.

A holiday home in Lake Tekapo

In winter 2010, the 3 families decided to book a winter holiday in Lake Tekapo. Rina's, Ann's and my families book a flight from Auckland to Christchurch via Jetstar. I remember paying only NZD300 for my family for a return trip. That would total up to RM750 for the 5 of us. Cheap as?

Right after touching down at Christchurch International Airport, we headed straight to Carleton (errk, have I got the name correct???) to do some grocery shopping. We collected our minibus which we rented and headed straight to Lake Tekapo where we would be putting up for 2 nights. I was in charge of house hunting and vehicle hunting. Relieved that the house I chose was "extra spacious" for these 3 families to share. I'm sharing with you the view of this house we rented for our winter holidays.

A lovely Bach home @ Christchurch

We went for a holiday in Christchurh and rented a 3 bedroom holiday home. Interestingly, the owner of the lovely home has converted the garage into another big bedroom enough for a family of 5.
Let's take a peek at what the home offered us.

Beautiful People

I found these pictures which I took in 2009 when I had a small get-together with ex school mates from Convent JB. This group of "crazy" people will definitely turn things upside down when we meet.

I screwed up

Yikes! No strength for me. Just got back from Secret Recipe to have 2 of my favorite cakes. Had a loooonnngggg discussion with Mr Hubby. Nope Dukan Diet will not work on me!!! Herbalife, perhaps??? Hmmmm (pondering mode)......
Chocolate Walnut Cake

Chocolate Indulgence

Do I have the strength???

I am planning to start on a diet program and was looking for a program that I can follow. A friend of mine, Fid introduced me to Dukan Diet, not that she's a believer of the diet program. So I googled and tried to get some first hand information about Dukan Diet.

After trying out the Weight Calculator test on the website, this is recommended for my weight loss program.

Attack Phase
Source of article: http://mydukandiet.com/dieting/attack-phase.html

The Attack Phase for me will last for 7 days. "The main purpose of this stage is to introduce good eating habits, while dealing with the usual diet hunger issues. For most people this is also the phase with the biggest weight loss - as the time goes by your body will adjust to the new regime and lose weight at a more stable pace. Be sure to eat at least 3 meals a day, with good portion sizes and never go hungry. The first days are also when you will meet the potential side effects of the diet. As pure protein products are low in fibre there is a risk of experiencing constipation. To help alleviate this problem eat oat bran or you could even add some wheat bran for extra effect and drink plenty of water.
You can eat as much as you want as long as it is on the allowed foods list.

One important habit that you need to establish from day one is proper water intake. Avoiding dehydration and overworking your kidneys is crucial on a high protein diet like this. Be sure to drink over 1.5 litres per day.

Oat bran is a very important ingredient of the Dukan Diet and introduced as soon as the Attack Phase. You should incorporate 1.5 tablespoons of oat bran per day in any form you like - as porridge, with yoghurt, in muffins or pancakes.

One food unrelated rule is to introduce exercise in the form of a 20 minute walk each day. Many dieters will be happy to hear that at the same time more extensive exercise is discouraged in this phase."

Allowed Foods
Lean beef
Chicken (except skin and outside part of the wings)
Chicken liver
Any fish (except canned in oil or sauce)
Shellfish
Eggs (up to two per day, unlimited egg whites but watch the yolks if you have high cholesterol)
Dairy products (low fat, below 2% fat)
Sweeteners (except fructose based), vinegar, mustard, spices, herbs, garlic, onion (as spice), lemon juice (only as spice, not for drinking), sugar free natural ketchup (in moderation), sugar free chewing gum

Will I be strong to keep up with this Attack Phase? I will keep you updated. This evening, I weigh 84.8 kg.

Kitties at Play

Miley and Mocha are such playful kitties that we loved watching them at play.  My nephew's Choki RIP last 2 days that actually alarmed me to have both my furkids vaccine.

According to Dr. Barchas from Catster.Com all cats - indoor and outdoor - should have the following vaccines every three to four weeks, beginning at six to eight weeks of age, and ending at 16 weeks: feline viral rhinotracheitis, calci and panleukopenia or FVRCP for short. These should be boostered when the cat is a year old and repeated every three years thereafter.

When I had Miley, I was told that she already had her first vaccine so it was time for her 2nd shot after she was spayed 3 weeks back. Mocha had his first this morning.

Miley was rather moody when she got home from the Vet. She hardly ate any kibbles or wet food. I gave her 2cc of multivitamin and let her rest. All she wanted to do was to sleep. Unlike Miley, Mocha was always hungry, but went of to sleep after his meal.

I hope they are both up on their feet again...I'm missing their usual antics.

ANF Kitten Food

Just bought a new 7.5kg pack of ANF kitten food for Miley & Mocha. A 7.5 kg costs RM130 at Petmaster Taman Universiti....roughly around RM19 per kg.

I tried feeding them with Blackwood kitten food earlier, but they did not quite like it. On one hand, they are a big fan of Royal Canin Exigent for picky eaters. This was recommended to me by my vet. But PRICE is a BIG concern. a 400gram pack costs RM19 and a 2kg pack costs RM70 at Family Vet at BBU.
While I was looking for a premium cat food, David the owner of Petmaster recommended ANF.

100% complete & balanced nutrition, free of added ethoxyquin, artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, by-products, soy, or fillers. Balanced in all essential amino acids and rich in omega fatty acids as well as brewers rice and other high quality nutrients. Well, I guess there's no harm trying.....But then again, my furkids are such picky eaters that I have to mix these kibbles with either steamed fish or canned fish.

EXAM FEVER

My son Nazmi has 6 more papers to sit for....i feel sorry for him...Agama on Monday, Add Math on Tuesday, Physics on Wednesday, Chemistry the week after, Engineering Drawing & Engineering Drawing in December. I pray for his success.
