I never liked Mee Bandung. But we decided to stop for Mee bandung Muar at Abu Hanifah Mee Bandung, just near the Tanjung, and in the town area of Bandar Maharani.Hubby ordered some satay as well. If you happened to be in Muar, dont forget to try the Mee Bandung. And order a glass of cold coffee too.

If you are in Melaka, don't forget to head to Klebang and try out the Coconut Shake. We had our shake after lunch, and true enough, it was a long queue before we could try out this popular drink. Hmmm, not too bad. Very creamy taste with coconut flavour. Yummmm....

Okay, asam pedas Melaka is just not for me. We had one as this specific 'asam pedas' eatery which is crowded with people. I guess I can make better asam pedas than those we have eaten in Melaka.

I read from a few blogs recommending Restoran Selera Kampung as a 'must' visit if you are hunting for an eatery. We got there around noon, true enough there were heaps of people waiting to be seated. They had array of choices of food that drools anyone. Even the ulam2 palate was full of variety. For lunch, we I had rice with daging salai masak cili api (but noo too nice, i prefer those from Seremban) with salty duck egg, we had 2 pieces of grilled kembung, hubby had ikan parang asam pedas, the kids had their choices, ulams and spent RM67 for lunch. Is this dear?

"Jalan2 cari makan" JB: Malay Village Restaurant

My son, Nazmi gave us a treat at Malay Village Restaurant Nusa Jaya after he got his first pay working as a pizza boy at Pizza Hut, Taman U. I ordered fish and chips (which was to my liking) and Air Pelam Asam Boi (something like that). Ain had chicken chop with Nes Ice, Hubby had Coffee Ice, Along had Avocado Juice and Anga himself had Mango Juice. The boys shared Malay delicacy of soup, sizzling beef and egg fuyong eaten with plain white rice. He spent almost RM100 for this meal, which I think was reasonable enough.

This is our 2nd trip to Restoran Nelayan on Jalan Zaaba, Seremban. To those who never ever had  any taste of masak lomak negeri style, have a visit here. You will find a variety of masak lemak cili api and a wide range of ulam-ulaman and sambal belacan, tempoyak and cencalok. Yummm.......

This restaurant is unique as this is the one that serves EXOTIC masak lomak cili api dishes ranging from porcupine meat (landak), venison meat (rusa) and other exotic dishes. I am not brave enough to try these exotics, so I only settled for Grilled beef masak lomak (daging salai). Hubby paid RM80 for a lunch for 6 adults.

Insured to be rest assured

I was frantically looking for a medical insurance for my family last week for "I don't know why" reason. I get alarmed at almost anything. This time I get excited about insurance. It's not that we're not insured. Everyone in the family, except hubby is insured. I don't understand why he refuses to take up a life insurance. To me, it's a kind of savings...for our retirement. Along's insurance is already matured and we're reaping the seeds of what we sow. I used it for his university funds. After "ransacking" my bookshelves, I found my 2 policies and Anga's policy and came to realize that Anga's policy will only mature when he turns 21. Aiyyooo why so long? Then I realized when I took up the policy for him, I thought I could prepare him financially when he gets married in the future....hahaha, one crazy mum I am and Ain has a policy with Takaful Malaysia. With my 2 policies, my hubby is going to be one rich man when I die. Lol.

I called up MAA enquiring about its Sihat Malaysia policy, thinking of a medical policy for the family, but an Indian lady from MAA who answered my call said, "why bother? you work for the govt right? you get all the benefits! you get 1st class treatment! why bother for a medical insurance?" her remarks made me have 2nd thoughts about this.

Arab Street Re-Visit

My sis invited me to join her for a Spore outing on a Thursday morning, and I thought I'd like to revisit Arab Street. The last time I was there was 20 years ago, and Arab Street has changed tremendously. There wasn't any old old stores left....but there were heaps of happenings around the area with Mediterranean and Arabic cuisine. I didn't shop much but bought 1 piece of Japanese cotton, 1 piece of French viscose and 1 piece of French voile, and 2 linen blouses. We stopped over at Zam Zam restaurant after asking around for its location. When I was young, my parents used to take us there for 'buka puasa'. We would do our Raya shopping around Arab Street area, then booked a corner at Zam Zam. Then dad would order carbonated drinks in glass bottles for each for us and beef murtabak for 'buka puasa'. Today, the murtabak from Zam Zam restaurant wasn't much to our liking as it was quite dry this time, but I guess it was a lot healthier as it uses olive oil.....Okay, pics of my Arab Street ventures for you my readers.

Playing hide and seek, anyone?

Have you heard of geocaching (pronounced geo-cashing)? I was introduced to this activity by my employer while we were on a job stint at Mystery Creek. Her daughter and grandchildren have been actively participating in geocaching. Val described in detail what it was all about during one of our lunch breaks and I decided to google about this new thing. There were heaps of stuff to digest from the net.

Geocaching is like playing hide and seek, played worldwide. It's a craze that is taking the world!!Instead of you hiding, you have to find objects or treasures that other members of the group (the geocachers) have hidden. You definitely need a GPS to help locate a ‘treasure’. When you have found the ‘treasure’, you need to sign a logbook and return the geocache to its original location.

In geocaching, there are rules such as “If you take something from the cache, you have to leave something of equal or greater value, and write about your find in the cache logbook”.

I find this hide and seek adventure rather interesting for a family-get-together. Why don’t you give this a try? I’m sure I will.

Of chillies...

It's quite difficult finding chillies which are really spicy hot! Hubby planted the jalapeno pepper which we really love, capsicum which was quite tasteless for my tastebuds, and the 'cili padi' which wasnt hot at all...Now,the cold season is back again, the chilli plants are dying....
