Terengganu Kopok

A short trip to Terengganu last December was a beautiful one (though we were trapped in the monsoon flood). Before leaving Terengganu, we took a short turn to Losong to get some keropoks home. There are rows and rows of stalls selling keropok lekor along the roadside. We chose one stall that look clean in our eyes. But the taste of the kopok was slightly disappointing. I preferred those keropok lekor which we bought along the Marang area, more fishy taste, and a lot tastier. To those who are looking to pack some kopok lekor home, drive to Marang for a better taste!

Telur Pindang try-out

During my niece's wedding in February, I promised my sister that I was going to make her 400 pieces of telur pindang. Telur pindang, a Johore delicacy is hard boiled egg cooked in herbs and spices and leaves for days and days. I googled for this recipe, and got some handy tips from one of my sisters making sure the eggs do not break. I used different sorts of leaves, from daun jambu, to daun salam, daun serai, daun manggis, daun senduduk, daun gajus and added in some spices like coriander seeds, fennel seeds, blackpepper, lemongrass among others. These telurs pindang were cooked in slow heat for 4 to 5 days. And they turned out to be yumm. My effort paid off.

Survival of the fittest

Okay, last week was the start of my adaptation to a healthier lifestyle, a healthier ME! I am physically challenging myself to shed off those unwanted kilos after discovering that I have put on an extra 7KG since returning from New Zealand. SEVEN BIG FAT KILOS, mind you. Rather than brooding over what had happened, I might have to think of a solution. No wonder I found myself having difficulty getting up from a lower position. So, my first step was to sign up for a fitness program. I did a trial program, just pay as you go. My first fitness was a mixed aerobics/bokwa/belly dancing/zumba session at Grace Fitness Studio. Dash, the instructor was not around. With Linda who took the lead, I felt that the class was rather okay.My second class at GFS was a latin fitness dance, a mixed of everything under Dash. Boy, was I breathless. I felt that I was always out of tune compared to the others.

Last night we did the Zumba, a Latin-inspired calorie burning fitness program. Whoahh yeah it was fun and I sweat profusely with every beat of the move I made. It was a great exercise but the after effects~muscle strain all over my body.
